Garage door questions, answered
Straight answers from the team that fixes garage doors around Bexley every day.
General
Do you do garage door repairs on weekends in Bexley?
Yes. We work every day from 7am to 8pm, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
My garage door spring snapped. Can I still open it?
Please don't force it. A door with a broken spring is very heavy and can drop. Leave it closed, unplug the motor and give us a call.
Which suburbs do you cover?
Bexley, Bexley North, Rockdale, Kingsgrove, Arncliffe, Bardwell Park, Earlwood, Carlton, Kogarah, Banksia, Turrella, Brighton-Le-Sands, Hurstville and Beverly Hills.
How much does a garage door repair cost?
It depends on the fault. We tell you the price once we've seen the door and before any work starts.
Garage Door Repairs
Can you repair my garage door the same day?
Most repairs are finished on the first visit because the van carries the common rollers, cables, springs and hinges. If a part has to be ordered, we make the door safe and secure first.
Do you repair roller doors, sectional doors and tilt doors?
Yes. We repair all three door types found on Bexley and St George homes, along with the motors that run them.
Is it safe to keep using a garage door that is making a loud noise?
A new or louder noise usually means something is wearing out. Stop using the motor if the door shakes or drops, and book a check before a small fault becomes a broken spring or cable.
Spring Replacement
Can I open my garage door with a broken spring?
Please don't. Without the spring the door's full weight sits on the motor and cables, and it can fall. Leave it closed, unplug the opener and call us.
Should both garage door springs be replaced?
On doors with two springs we recommend replacing both. They were fitted at the same time, so the second one is usually close to breaking too.
How long does spring replacement take?
Most spring replacements take about an hour, including rebalancing and testing the door.

Roller Door Repairs
Why is my roller door so heavy to lift?
Roller doors lose spring tension over time. Re-tensioning the drum makes the door light and balanced again, and takes the strain off the motor.
Can a dented roller door be repaired?
Small dents and creases can often be worked out and the bottom rail replaced. Badly creased curtains may need a new curtain.
Can you add a motor to my manual roller door?
Yes. Most manual roller doors can be automated with a roller door opener and remotes.
Motors & Openers
Should I repair or replace my garage door motor?
If the motor is fairly new and the fault is a gear, belt or setting, repair is usually best. If it's old, noisy and parts are scarce, a new motor is often better value. We'll give you both options.
Can I control my garage door from my phone?
Many new openers can be controlled from a phone app. We can fit one, or add a smart module to a compatible motor.
What happens to my garage door in a blackout?
Every opener has a manual release. A battery backup unit keeps the door working during power cuts.

Remotes & Keypads
Will any remote work with my garage door?
No, remotes have to match the motor brand and frequency. Tell us the brand and model on the motor and we'll bring a compatible remote.
Can you delete a lost garage door remote?
Yes. We clear the opener's memory and re-pair only the remotes you still have, so the lost one no longer opens the door.
Why has my remote stopped working?
Usually a flat battery. If a new battery doesn't help, the remote may have lost its code or the receiver may be faulty.

New Garage Doors
Which type of garage door is best for my home?
Roller doors are simple and take little headroom. Sectional doors are quieter and seal better. Tilt doors suit some older homes and wide openings. We'll recommend what fits your garage.
How long does a new garage door installation take?
Once the door has been made to size, most installations are done in a single day.
Do you take away the old garage door?
Yes. We remove and dispose of the old door and motor as part of the installation.
Servicing & Tune-ups
How often should a garage door be serviced?
Once a year for most homes. If the door is used many times a day, every six months is better.
What's included in a garage door service?
Lubrication, a balance and spring check, inspection of cables, rollers and hinges, motor settings and a safety reverse test.
Can a service stop my spring from breaking?
Springs wear out with use, but a service shows when one is close to the end so you can replace it on your terms rather than in a hurry.
Tilt Door Repairs
Can a tilt garage door be motorised?
Yes. Most tilt doors can take a motor once the springs and arms are in good order.
Why won't my tilt door stay open?
The springs have usually weakened or one has broken. New springs set to the door's weight fix it.
Should I replace my tilt door with a roller or sectional door?
If the tilt door is old and needs a lot of work, a roller or sectional door is often lighter and easier to use. We'll talk you through both.
